Tolefree, the 2016 Gatorade Girls Player of the Year in Arkansas, had a highly successful first season at Jones Community College in Mississippi after transferring from the University of Central Arkansas. She was a first-team, junior college All-American in helping the Bobcats to a 30-2 record and a national semifinal berth. She averaged 20 points, 2.8 assists and 2..5 rebounds as a freshman. She has been offered a future scholarship to Ole Miss and has committed to the Lady Rebels beginning with her junior season. She will commit a two-year commitment to play for Jones next season. Tolefree announced Sunday on Twitter, “I want to thank God, my family and friends and everyone involved in my decision-making process and the support throughout my journey! I will be attending the University of Mississippi for my junior and senior years of college! I want to thank everyone involved and especially the coaches at Jones for giving me a second opportunity at playing the game I love as well as the Ole Miss staff for seeing my abilities and blessing me with the opportunity to continue my career with them. So, In the fall of 2018 I will officially be at Ole Miss. #HottyToddy.” This could make for an interesting future matchup between former Lady Cats. Jordan Danberry, the 2015 Gatorade Girls Player of the Year who helped team with Tolefree to help lead Conway to a 7A state title, will begin playing for Mississippi State the second semester of this coming season. Special scholarship At the recent Pat Summerall Celebrity Golf Tournament, Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame officials announced that it has established two scholarships in memory of the late John Bailey of Conway. Bailey, a longtime regional representative for Wilson Sporting Goods, was a longtime supporter of athletics in Arkansas and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame, including serving as a board member. All-Stars Attendance at the high school All-Star football game was way down. Maybe it was because of heavy rains and approaching storms during the game. Maybe it was because of a lack of marquee players (particularly future Razorbacks) playing in the game. Maybe it was a combination of things, including all-star football games have lost part of their appeal. With a 55-14 East blowout, which was decided early, plus a 50-minute rain delay, it lacked excitement.
