It took just three sets this year for the Conway Lady Cats to return to the state finals after sweeping Har-Ber in straight sets 25-16, 25-19, 25-21 Thursday.

Last season, the Lady Cats’ year ended at the hands of the Wildcats in the semifinals, which it had done the year before as well, going to a fifth set.

This year, Conway (26-7-1, 12-2 6A Central) defeated Har-Ber (22-6, 13-1 6A Central) in a non conference tournament 2-1.

On Thursday, the Lady Cats were looking to strike and avenge last year’s defeat in the semifinals to the Wildcats when Conway got off to a hot start, going up 9-3 in the first set.

Har-Ber stormed back for a 10-7 lead, but Conway wouldn’t led the Wildcats come all the way back eventually grabbing a 17-11 lead.

The Lady Cats would put together a 4-3 run before a Har-Ber timeout.

Looking to put away the first set and go up by one set, Conway eventually took the set 25-16.

In the second set, the Wildcats looked they were coming to life, leading 11-7 before a Lady Cat timeout.

A 9-2 run gave Conway a 20-18 lead in the second set before ending up going on a 14-3 run over the course of the end of second set to win 25-19.

Leading two sets to none, the Lady Cats found themselves in a similar position they were in last year.

Conway started leading 6-3 before Har-Ber took the lead at 9-8.
